Oh, we know that Funner isn’t a real word (yet), but we think it should be. We also think every child should be safe, secure, and silly.
We are a Michigan-based non-profit committed to building relationships between first responders, counselors, caregivers, and the kids who need to know they matter, need to know they are loved, and need to know the power of laughter.

The Problem
Two minutes. On average, that’s how much time you have to escape a house fire.
Every year, 120,000 children in the U.S. end up in the E.R. because of burns, 93% of them residential in origin. These kids are victims of house fires. 15,000 of those kids end up hospitalized.
Here in Michigan, the rate of death (4.4 vs 2.1 per 1,000) and rate of injury (13.9 vs 6.4 per 1,000) for house fires are both more than twice the national average. Pennsylvania, Illinois, and California are the only states with a higher home fire fatality percentage than Michigan. We have to do better, for everyone, including kids. We can do better.
Our Solution
The Funner Childhood Organization has a three-word mission statement: To rescue childhood. We support first responders and others with 45 trauma-informed children’s books, 21 free cartoons, card games, video games, comic books and more. They all incorporate disguised learning and humor, the two secret ingredients for connecting with kids.

One hundred percent of the money we raise will go toward the printing of this book. All printed copies will be personally delivered by The Funner Childhood Organization to all of our wonderful statewide partners in the Michigan Trauma Coalition and the Michigan State Firemen’s Association.
